Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream)
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 15×10 inch jelly roll pan and line it with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, then mix until it forms a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center.
- Cool the cake on a wire rack for about 5 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a clean kitchen towel.
- Roll the cake gently with the towel, starting from one end, and let it cool completely while rolled.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
- Once the cake is cooled, unroll it and spread the whipped cream over the top.
- Re-roll the cake without the towel, then transfer it to a serving platter.
- Frost the outside with the remaining whipped cream and decorate with chocolate shavings for a festive finish.
Notes
Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months. For added flavor, infuse whipped cream with peppermint extract or espresso.
