Description
This classic peach cobbler is golden, gooey, and irresistibly simple — made with pantry staples and your choice of fresh, frozen, or canned peaches.
Ingredients
- 2 cups peach slices (fresh, frozen, or canned – drained)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup self-rising flour (or 1 cup all-purpose flour + 1½ tsp baking powder)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and melt it in the oven.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and milk until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish — do not stir.
- Evenly layer the peach slices on top of the batter.
- Optionally, sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.
- Let cool slightly and serve warm — ideally with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
For a crispier top, sprinkle a little sugar on top before baking. Works well with a mix of fruits like berries or plums.
