Description

A classic side dish featuring fresh green beans cooked with crispy bacon and savory seasonings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean and trim the green beans.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  5. Add the green beans and chicken broth to the skillet.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes until beans are tender.
  7. Crumble the bacon and add it back to the skillet.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. If desired, drizzle with olive oil before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms or diced tomatoes. Adjust the amount of bacon based on your preference for smokiness.
