These crockpot meatballs in rich onion gravy are a hearty, fuss-free comfort food made with frozen meatballs and pantry staples. Delicious served over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles for an easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 (24–32 oz) bag frozen meatballs
- 2 packets brown gravy mix
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- Cornstarch + water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Make the Gravy Mix: In a bowl, whisk together brown gravy mix, onion soup mix, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Add to Crockpot: Place frozen meatballs into your slow cooker. Add onions and mushrooms if using. Pour the gravy mixture over the top.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or high for 3–4 hours until meatballs are hot and tender.
- Thicken Gravy (Optional): Mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp cold water and stir into the pot 30 minutes before serving, if a thicker sauce is desired.
- Serve: Gently stir and serve warm over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
This recipe works well with turkey or beef meatballs. For a richer flavor, substitute ½ cup of the broth with red wine or add a splash of cream at the end. Leftovers reheat well.
