Description

A delightful twist on classic mac and cheese, combining rich cheese sauce with succulent shrimp and crab meat for a comforting and indulgent dish.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup crab meat
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions, until tender but still al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then whisk in the flour to create a roux, stirring for about a minute.
  3. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder and onion powder, then fold in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Gently fold in the shrimp and crab meat, ensuring an even distribution.
  6. Return the macaroni to the sauce and mix thoroughly to coat.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
  8. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For an extra crunchy topping, add breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter before baking. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
