Ingredients
- 8 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup crab meat
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions, until tender but still al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then whisk in the flour to create a roux, stirring for about a minute.
- Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder and onion powder, then fold in the cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Gently fold in the shrimp and crab meat, ensuring an even distribution.
- Return the macaroni to the sauce and mix thoroughly to coat.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For an extra crunchy topping, add breadcrumbs mixed with melted butter before baking. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
