A delicious handheld pastry stuffed with minced meat and spices, perfect for a cozy evening.
Ingredients
- 1 lb minced meat (beef or lamb)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 package of ready-made pastry (short crust or puff pastry)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat some oil over medium heat and sauté the onions and garlic until they are translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Add the minced meat, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, cooking until browned.
- Stir in the beef broth and let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Roll out the pastry and cut it into circles.
- Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry round.
- Fold the pastry over and seal the edges with fork prongs.
- Brush the tops with egg wash.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, use lentils or a mix of beans instead of meat, adjusting spices to taste.
