Description

A delicious handheld pastry stuffed with minced meat and spices, perfect for a cozy evening.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb minced meat (beef or lamb)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 package of ready-made pastry (short crust or puff pastry)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat some oil over medium heat and sauté the onions and garlic until they are translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. Add the minced meat, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, cooking until browned.
  4. Stir in the beef broth and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Roll out the pastry and cut it into circles.
  6. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each pastry round.
  7. Fold the pastry over and seal the edges with fork prongs.
  8. Brush the tops with egg wash.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, use lentils or a mix of beans instead of meat, adjusting spices to taste.
