Description

A quick and comforting take on the classic Sloppy Joe, loaded with caramelized onions, savory beef, and melted mozzarella cheese, all served in soft buns.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 soft buns
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  4. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Top with mozzarella cheese and allow to melt, covering briefly if needed.
  6. Serve the mixture on soft buns.

Notes

For best results, slice the onions thinly for quicker caramelization. Toasting buns can help prevent sogginess.
