Description
A quick and comforting take on the classic Sloppy Joe, loaded with caramelized onions, savory beef, and melted mozzarella cheese, all served in soft buns.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 soft buns
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
- Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Top with mozzarella cheese and allow to melt, covering briefly if needed.
- Serve the mixture on soft buns.
Notes
For best results, slice the onions thinly for quicker caramelization. Toasting buns can help prevent sogginess.
