Description
A beautiful wreath-shaped bread filled with gooey cheese and fresh herbs, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1/4 cup fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or parsley)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the flour, yeast, and salt.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil to the dry mixture. Stir until a sticky dough begins to form.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once risen, gently punch the dough down, divide it into portions, flatten each piece, and fill with cheese and herbs.
- Shape each filled piece into a wreath.
- Place the wreath on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with egg wash, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
To keep the bread fresh, store in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
