Description

Delicious beef and cheese empanadas that are perfect for snacks, appetizers, or meals, easy to make, and full of flavor.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12-15 empanada dough discs
  • Oil for frying or egg wash for baking


Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add diced onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, cooking until onions are translucent.
  3. Remove from heat and mix in the shredded cheese.
  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F (if baking).
  5. Take one empanada disc, fill the center with a spoonful of the beef and cheese mixture, and fold over to create a half-moon shape. Seal the edges with a fork.
  6. For baking, brush the tops with egg wash; for frying, heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  7. Fry empanadas until golden brown on both sides or bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

Keep the dough chilled until ready to fill and don’t overfill the empanadas for best results.
