Description

Delightful red velvet cinnamon rolls with a rich cocoa taste and warm cinnamon flavor, topped with creamy frosting.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the milk, vegetable oil, egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract.
  4. Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, then roll it out into a 1/4 inch thick rectangle.
  6. Spread softened butter over the dough; mix brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle over the butter.
  7. Roll the dough tightly, slice into rolls, and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then frost the warm rolls before serving.
