Description

Delicious and nutritious pancakes made from red lentils, perfect for breakfast or a snack.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup masoor dal (red lentils)
  • 1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for cooking
  • Optional: chopped cilantro or other spices


Instructions

  1. Rinse the masoor dal thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 2 hours.
  2. Drain the dal and blend it with a little water to make a smooth batter.
  3. Add the chopped green chilies, grated ginger, salt, and any additional spices or herbs to the batter and mix well.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the pan and spread it out evenly into a circle.
  6. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until golden brown, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
  7. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more oil as needed.
  8. Serve warm with chutney or yogurt.

Notes

Experiment with spices like cumin or coriander for extra flavor. Make sure the pan is hot enough before pouring the batter to achieve a nice golden color.
