Description

Delicious pumpkin-shaped cinnamon rolls topped with sweet cream cheese frosting, perfect for fall festivities.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and pumpkin puree. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Spread melted butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on top.
  6. Roll the dough tightly and cut it into 12 slices. Shape each slice into a pumpkin by pinching the top and making grooves with a knife.
  7. Place the pumpkin rolls on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While they are baking, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until smooth.
  10. Once the rolls cool, spread the cream cheese frosting on top.

Notes

Ensure the milk is warm but not too hot to protect the yeast. Knead the dough well for a fluffy texture. Use fresh pumpkin puree for the best flavor.
