Description
Delicious pumpkin-shaped cinnamon rolls topped with sweet cream cheese frosting, perfect for fall festivities.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and pumpkin puree. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle.
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Spread melted butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on top.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut it into 12 slices. Shape each slice into a pumpkin by pinching the top and making grooves with a knife.
- Place the pumpkin rolls on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- While they are baking, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla together until smooth.
- Once the rolls cool, spread the cream cheese frosting on top.
Notes
Ensure the milk is warm but not too hot to protect the yeast. Knead the dough well for a fluffy texture. Use fresh pumpkin puree for the best flavor.
