Description

A fun and festive appetizer perfect for autumn gatherings and Halloween parties, this cheesy dip is easy to make and a crowd-pleaser for all ages.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar, shredded
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika (+ extra for coating)
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup crushed cheese crackers or finely chopped pecans (for coating)
  • 1 pretzel rod or bell pepper stem (for pumpkin stem)
  • Fresh parsley leaves (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, beat the cream cheese, sharp cheddar, sour cream, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  2. Scoop the mixture onto plastic wrap, form into a ball, and wrap tightly. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Once chilled, roll the cheese ball in crushed cheese crackers or pecans until fully coated.
  4. Press twine or spaghetti noodles around the ball to create ridges, then remove them.
  5. Insert a pretzel rod or bell pepper stem on top to serve as the pumpkin stem. Garnish with parsley leaves if desired.
  6. Let the cheese ball sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving with crackers, pretzels, or fresh veggies.

Notes

Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easier mixing and let the cheese ball chill long enough to hold its shape when serving. Experiment with spices or add-ins to customize the flavor.
