Ingredients
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate shavings for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whip the egg whites until foamy.
- Add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form.
- Gradually add the sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in the vanilla extract gently.
- Spread the meringue onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 1 hour until firm. Let cool.
- Whip the heavy cream and cocoa powder until soft peaks form and spread over cooled meringue.
- Roll the meringue tightly into a log shape and chill for 30 minutes.
- Dust with chocolate shavings before serving.
Notes
Use room temperature eggs for better whipping. Ensure all equipment is grease-free.
