Description

A satisfying low-carb casserole bursting with flavor from seasoned ground beef, gooey cheese, and fresh vegetables, reminiscent of the classic Philly cheesesteak.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 8 oz sliced provolone cheese
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions and bell peppers for 5-6 minutes.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 7-8 minutes until browned.
  6. Drain excess fat and stir in Worcestershire sauce and cream cheese until melted.
  7. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and layer with provolone and mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for 22-25 minutes or until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in diced mushrooms or jalapeños. This dish can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
