Description
A satisfying low-carb casserole bursting with flavor from seasoned ground beef, gooey cheese, and fresh vegetables, reminiscent of the classic Philly cheesesteak.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs 80/20 ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup diced onions
- 1 cup diced bell peppers
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 8 oz sliced provolone cheese
- 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions and bell peppers for 5-6 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 7-8 minutes until browned.
- Drain excess fat and stir in Worcestershire sauce and cream cheese until melted.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and layer with provolone and mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 22-25 minutes or until cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in diced mushrooms or jalapeños. This dish can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking.
