Description

Omurice is a comforting Japanese dish featuring fluffy omelets filled with savory fried rice, customizable with your favorite vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions and carrots until soft.
  2. Add peas and cooked rice, stir, and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Stir in ketchup and soy sauce, adding salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs and season with salt.
  5. Heat a non-stick pan, add a little oil, and pour in the eggs, swirling to coat the pan.
  6. Cook until the edges are set but the center is slightly runny.
  7. Spoon the fried rice onto one side of the omelet and fold it over.
  8. Slide onto a plate and serve.

Notes

Use day-old cooked rice for better texture. Customize the filling with proteins and keep the omelet light by cooking gently.
