Description
A rich and gooey pecan cobbler with a buttery base, warm cinnamon sugar topping, and a caramel-like sauce formed during baking. Perfect for holiday gatherings or comforting desserts.
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 ½ cups self-rising flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ⅔ cup whole milk (add more if needed)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup pecan halves
- 1 ½ cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and allow it to melt in the oven.
- In a mixing bowl, combine self-rising flour, granulated sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir just until combined — the batter should be pourable.
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Once the butter is melted, remove the dish from the oven. Sprinkle the pecan halves evenly over the butter.
- Carefully pour the batter over the pecans. Do not stir.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture evenly over the batter.
- Gently pour the hot water over the top of everything — again, do not stir.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a crust has formed.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For extra flavor, add a dash of nutmeg or a splash of bourbon to the batter.
