Description
A comforting, golden peach cobbler made with fresh fruit and a soft biscuit-style topping. Perfect with vanilla ice cream for a classic summer dessert.
Ingredients
- 4 cups of sliced fresh peaches (about 6–8 medium peaches)
- ½ cup white sugar (adjust based on sweetness of peaches)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling: Peel and slice the peaches. In a bowl, combine peaches, sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and cinnamon (if using). Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes to draw out juices.
- Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 375°F (190°C). Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make the Topping: In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Stir in the milk and melted butter until a thick batter forms.
- Assemble: Spoon or spread the batter evenly over the peaches.
- Bake: Bake for 40–45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Serve: Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
If your peaches are very juicy, increase cornstarch to 1½ tablespoons for a thicker filling. You can also use canned or frozen peaches (drained).
