Description

A quick and easy homemade version of Hamburger Helper that brings cheesy, flavorful goodness to your table.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 ¼ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp ground mustard
  • 2 cups pasta, such as elbow
  • 3 ½ cups beef broth
  • 2 ½ cups cheddar cheese


Instructions

  1. Heat a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and break it up with a spoon.
  3. Once partially cooked, add the diced onion and continue to cook until the beef is cooked through.
  4. Add all seasonings and tomato paste; stir to combine.
  5. Add the pasta and beef broth; stir to combine.
  6. Turn the heat to low and cover the pot.
  7. Stir occasionally and cook for 20 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

Use lean ground beef for a healthier dish. Feel free to add vegetables for extra nutrition. Adjust seasonings to taste.
