Description

A comforting, one-dish meal featuring layers of seasoned ground beef, tender potatoes, and melted cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes to about 1/4 inch thickness. Dice the onion and mince the garlic.
  3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes. Top with half of the beef, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
  6. Pour the beef broth (and milk if using) over the dish.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top, and bake uncovered for 10 more minutes until golden.
  9. Let it rest for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.

Notes

Slice the potatoes evenly for proper cooking. Add vegetables for extra nutrition and spice for a kick.
