Description

A flavorful and easy slow cooker chicken shawarma recipe that allows for hands-off cooking while delivering tender and aromatic chicken.


Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 pounds boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • Juice of 1 lemon


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine all spices: cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken thighs. For best flavor, marinate in the fridge overnight.
  3. Place the coated chicken in the slow cooker in an even layer.
  4. Add olive oil, chicken broth, and lemon juice to the slow cooker.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks before serving.
