Description

Soft and sturdy homemade sub rolls, perfect for crafting sandwiches or serving alongside hearty soups.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil


Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients.
  2. Combine dry ingredients (flour, sugar, salt, yeast) in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add warm water and olive oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough, transfer to a floured surface, and divide into eight equal pieces.
  7. Shape each piece into a roll and place seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Bake the rolls for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

For best storage, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerate for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
