Ingredients
- 2 lbs of potatoes (such as Yukon Gold)
- 1/2 cup of milk or dairy-free milk
- 1/4 cup of butter or dairy-free alternative
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Optional: Garlic powder, chives, or cheese for added flavor
Instructions
- Peel and chop the potatoes into equal pieces.
- Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water.
- Bring the water to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.
- Cook the potatoes for about 15-20 minutes or until they are tender.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
- Add the milk and butter, then mash the potatoes until smooth.
- Season with salt, pepper, and any optional ingredients.
- Serve warm.

For a creamier texture, use starchy potatoes like Yukon Gold. Adjust milk and butter to desired creaminess.
