A quick and easy recipe for General Tso’s Chicken, featuring a perfect crunch and a flavorful, saucy finish.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 3 green onions, sliced for garnish
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until well-coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in batches, cooking until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1 minute.
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and hoisin sauce. Pour into the pan and bring to a simmer.
- Add the chicken back into the pan, stirring to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.
Notes
Make sure to not overcrowd the pan to keep the chicken crispy. Feel free to adjust the spiciness to your taste.
