Description

A quick and easy recipe for General Tso’s Chicken, featuring a perfect crunch and a flavorful, saucy finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 green onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until well-coated.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in batches, cooking until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add minced garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1 minute.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and hoisin sauce. Pour into the pan and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the chicken back into the pan, stirring to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions.

Notes

Make sure to not overcrowd the pan to keep the chicken crispy. Feel free to adjust the spiciness to your taste.
