Description

A delicious and easy-to-make French Toast Casserole, perfect for serving a crowd at family gatherings or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf brioche (or challah, or French bread), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  3. Spread the bread cubes evenly in the prepared dish.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, pressing the bread down lightly so it absorbs the liquid.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  7. Let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the custard.
  8. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries. You can prepare it the night before and store it in the refrigerator.
