Ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
- Additional Gruyere cheese for topping
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook gently, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and dark golden brown, about 20 minutes.
- Stir in the beef broth and thyme, and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture back to a gentle simmer.
- Add the cooked pasta and half of the shredded Gruyere cheese, tossing until well-coat.
- Top with the remaining cheese and broil for 2-4 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
Notes
