Description

A delightfully simple dish with tender, juicy chicken coated in a savory soy garlic sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp potato starch
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil
  • 8 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 stalks green onion (green and white parts separated)
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock (or water & chicken bouillon)
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Green onion (green part, for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients: chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel. Mix the potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper on a plate. Coat the chicken thighs on both sides with this mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken and fry until golden brown, about 7 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add minced garlic, the white part of green onion, and red chili flakes. Sauté for about 3 minutes until garlic is golden. Add the prepared sauce and cook until it thickens, about 1 minute.
  5. Add the chicken back to the pan. Cook for another 5 minutes, ensuring it’s cooked through and coated in sauce.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with the green part of the green onions and sesame seeds, paired with steamed rice and vegetables.

Notes

Make sure to use hot oil for a crispy exterior. Adjust spice levels as desired and feel free to add extra vegetables during cooking.
