Description
A delightfully simple dish with tender, juicy chicken coated in a savory soy garlic sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
- 3 tbsp potato starch
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp neutral oil
- 8 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 stalks green onion (green and white parts separated)
- 1 tsp red chili flakes
- 1/2 cup chicken stock (or water & chicken bouillon)
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- Green onion (green part, for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients: chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and set aside.
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel. Mix the potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper on a plate. Coat the chicken thighs on both sides with this mixture.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken and fry until golden brown, about 7 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add minced garlic, the white part of green onion, and red chili flakes. Sauté for about 3 minutes until garlic is golden. Add the prepared sauce and cook until it thickens, about 1 minute.
- Add the chicken back to the pan. Cook for another 5 minutes, ensuring it’s cooked through and coated in sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with the green part of the green onions and sesame seeds, paired with steamed rice and vegetables.
Notes
Make sure to use hot oil for a crispy exterior. Adjust spice levels as desired and feel free to add extra vegetables during cooking.
