Description
A rich, sweet, and buttery Southern-style pecan cobbler with a crisp golden topping and gooey caramel center. No mixing required after layering — the magic happens in the oven!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup chopped or halved pecans
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- Optional: pinch of cinnamon, splash of bourbon, or drizzle of maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the melted butter in the dish. Do not stir.
- Sprinkle both granulated and brown sugars evenly over the top of the batter.
- Distribute the chopped or halved pecans evenly over the sugar layer.
- Carefully pour the boiling water over the entire mixture. Do not stir.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbling.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
This cobbler forms its own caramel sauce as it bakes. For an extra boost of flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or a splash of bourbon to the batter.
