Description

A quick and delicious Mongolian ground beef noodle recipe combining savory beef, garlic, and a hint of sweetness.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz noodles of choice (spaghetti, udon, or rice noodles)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish


Instructions

  1. Boil the noodles according to package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat and cook ground beef until browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and ginger to the pan and sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Combine soy sauce, brown sugar, beef broth, hoisin sauce, and red pepper flakes in a bowl, then pour over the beef mixture and stir to coat.
  5. Make a cornstarch slurry with cornstarch and water, add to the pan, and simmer until sauce thickens.
  6. Add the cooked noodles to the pan and toss to combine with the sauce.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or tofu. You can add vegetables like bell peppers or broccoli for more nutrition.
