Description
A comforting low-carb twist on traditional pizza, combining all your favorite flavors into a warm, satisfying casserole.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or sausage
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can (14 ounces) low-carb pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil and sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the ground beef or sausage, cook until browned, and drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the chopped red bell pepper, pizza sauce, oregano, basil, and season with salt and pepper. Allow to simmer for about 5 minutes.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the meat mixture, sprinkle with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and half of the pepperoni (if using). Repeat with remaining meat mixture, cheese, and pepperoni on top.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes, slice into squares, and serve warm.
Notes
Let the casserole rest a few minutes after baking for better slicing. Customize toppings to suit your taste.
