Description

Crispy bite-sized chicken pieces tossed in a sweet, sticky honey sesame sauce, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions. A takeout favorite made at home.

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup cornstarch (plus more if needed)
  • 23 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

For the Sauce:

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

Garnish:

  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Prep the Chicken: Beat the eggs in one bowl, place cornstarch in another. Dip chicken pieces in egg, then dredge in cornstarch until coated.
  2. Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a small pan, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Simmer over medium heat for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Combine: Toss fried chicken into the sauce. Stir to coat evenly and let it get glossy.
  5. Serve: Top with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve with steamed rice or veggies.

Notes

For extra crunch, double-fry the chicken. Add red pepper flakes for heat if desired.
