Description
Crispy bite-sized chicken pieces tossed in a sweet, sticky honey sesame sauce, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions. A takeout favorite made at home.
Ingredients
For the Chicken:
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs (or breasts), cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 eggs, beaten
- ½ cup cornstarch (plus more if needed)
- 2–3 tbsp vegetable oil for frying
For the Sauce:
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
Garnish:
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken: Beat the eggs in one bowl, place cornstarch in another. Dip chicken pieces in egg, then dredge in cornstarch until coated.
- Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Make the Sauce: In a small pan, whisk together honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Simmer over medium heat for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Combine: Toss fried chicken into the sauce. Stir to coat evenly and let it get glossy.
- Serve: Top with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve with steamed rice or veggies.
Notes
For extra crunch, double-fry the chicken. Add red pepper flakes for heat if desired.
