Description

A quick and nutritious dish that combines whole wheat pasta and fresh broccoli, perfect for a weeknight dinner or impressing guests.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz whole wheat pasta
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh lemon juice (optional)


Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions.
  2. In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pasta water.
  3. Drain the pasta and broccoli, reserving a little pasta water.
  4. In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the pan. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed.
  6. Season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and lemon juice, if desired.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a healthier option, use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta. Customize with additional vegetables or protein for extra nutrition.
