Description
A quick and nutritious dish that combines whole wheat pasta and fresh broccoli, perfect for a weeknight dinner or impressing guests.
Ingredients
- 8 oz whole wheat pasta
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Fresh lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions.
- In the last 3 minutes of cooking, add the broccoli florets to the pasta water.
- Drain the pasta and broccoli, reserving a little pasta water.
- In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the drained pasta and broccoli to the pan. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed.
- Season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and lemon juice, if desired.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
For a healthier option, use whole wheat or gluten-free pasta. Customize with additional vegetables or protein for extra nutrition.
