Description
Duchess potatoes are a fancy way to serve mashed potatoes, light and fluffy with a buttery flavor, perfect for special occasions.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing the baking sheet)
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of salted water and add the peeled and cubed potatoes. Cook for about 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
- Drain the potatoes and let them cool for a few minutes. Mash the cooked potatoes until smooth in a large bowl.
- Add softened butter, heavy cream, egg yolks, garlic powder, and onion powder to the potatoes and mix well. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
- Transfer the potato mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe onto the baking sheet in decorative swirls or mounds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until the tops are golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Duchess potatoes can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator or freezer. They pair well with roasted meats or grilled chicken.
