Description

A comforting casserole that combines the rich flavors of French onion soup with crunchy broccoli and melty cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups broccoli florets, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 cup French onion soup (canned)
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cream or heavy cream
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and blanch the broccoli florets for 3 to 4 minutes until tender crisp. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the French onion soup, cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
  4. In a greased casserole dish, layer the broccoli and pour the soup mixture over it.
  5. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs. Drizzle olive oil over the top.
  6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Make sure to preheat your oven for optimal results. Blanch the broccoli just until tender crisp to avoid mushiness.
