A comforting casserole that combines the rich flavors of French onion soup with crunchy broccoli and melty cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
- 4 cups broccoli florets, cut into bite size pieces
- 1 cup French onion soup (canned)
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cream or heavy cream
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and blanch the broccoli florets for 3 to 4 minutes until tender crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the French onion soup, cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth.
- In a greased casserole dish, layer the broccoli and pour the soup mixture over it.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese and breadcrumbs. Drizzle olive oil over the top.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Make sure to preheat your oven for optimal results. Blanch the broccoli just until tender crisp to avoid mushiness.
