Description

Rich and chocolaty red velvet brownies topped with a creamy layer of sweetened cream cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a large bowl and whisk in the sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
  7. Mix in the red food coloring until evenly distributed.
  8. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  9. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, followed by dollops of the cream cheese mixture, and then the remaining brownie batter on top.
  10. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the brownie batter.
  11. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  12. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting. Patience pays off for better presentation.
