Description
Rich and chocolaty red velvet brownies topped with a creamy layer of sweetened cream cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon red food coloring
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Melt the butter in a large bowl and whisk in the sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
- Mix in the red food coloring until evenly distributed.
- In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, followed by dollops of the cream cheese mixture, and then the remaining brownie batter on top.
- Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese into the brownie batter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
Allow brownies to cool completely before cutting. Patience pays off for better presentation.
