Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat. Add the garlic and season with salt and pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheeses.
- Dot the top with butter.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, then garnish with fresh herbs if desired before serving.
Notes
Use starchy potatoes like Russets for the best texture. For extra nutrition, consider adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms.
