Description

Freshly baked Cottage Cheese Taler are savory delights that are crispy on the outside and cozy inside, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 250 g cottage cheese (Hüttenkäse)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 3 tablespoons oats
  • 2 tablespoons flour or spelt flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Herbs of your choice (such as parsley or chives)

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your ingredients. Drain the cottage cheese well to remove excess liquid, then finely chop the onion and grate the carrot.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained cottage cheese and eggs thoroughly. Stir in the oats, flour, salt, pepper, and your chosen herbs.
  3. Using your hands, form the mixture into evenly sized discs, about 2-3 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. For an enhanced flavor and golden color, brush the tops of the talers lightly with cooking oil.
  5. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and bake the talers for 20-25 minutes, flipping them halfway through. Once cooked, let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftover talers in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 2 months. Reheat before serving.
