  • Author: ELENE
  • Total Time: 30 mins
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and flavorful Asian-style stir-fry featuring tender beef slices, crisp broccoli, and a savory-sweet sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights and pairs beautifully with steamed rice.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen, thawed)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (light or low sodium)
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil (like canola or avocado)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes, hoisin sauce, green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate Beef: In a bowl, mix sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp cornstarch, and half the garlic and ginger. Let sit for 15–20 minutes.
  2. Prep Sauce: In a small bowl, combine remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar (or honey), and ΒΌ cup water. Stir in a bit of cornstarch if you prefer a thicker sauce.
  3. Cook Beef: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Sear beef in a single layer until browned (about 2 minutes). Remove and set aside.
  4. Stir-Fry Broccoli: In the same pan, add broccoli and a splash of water. Cover and steam for 2–3 minutes. Uncover and stir-fry for another 2 minutes until crisp-tender.
  5. Combine: Return beef to the pan. Add remaining garlic, ginger, and the prepared sauce. Stir and cook until sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.
  6. Serve: Plate over steamed rice. Garnish with sesame seeds, green onions, or red pepper flakes if desired.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce. Add bell peppers or snap peas for extra vegetables and color.
