A flavorful and easy-to-make chicken shawarma recipe that brings the taste of the Mediterranean home.
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon cumin
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 cup tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
- 1/4 cup tahini sauce
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and black pepper. Stir well until you have a homogeneous mixture.
- Coat the chicken thighs evenly in the spice mixture and marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat your grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated chicken thighs for 6-8 minutes on each side until cooked through and nicely charred.
- Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes, then slice into thin strips.
- Warm the pita breads on the grill for 1-2 minutes until soft.
- Assemble the shawarma by layering sliced chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and drizzling with tahini sauce.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
