Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Cucumber slices
  • Red onion, sliced
  • Feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber (grated and squeezed dry)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for tzatziki)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Salt (for tzatziki) to taste


Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced chicken and marinate for 15 minutes.
  2. Cook the marinated chicken in a skillet over medium heat for 6-8 minutes until thoroughly cooked and golden brown.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the tzatziki by mixing Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt in another bowl.
  4. Warm the pita bread in a pan or oven until soft.
  5. Assemble the gyros: add sautéed chicken to the pita, followed by slices of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and crumbled feta cheese.
  6. Drizzle with tzatziki sauce, roll the pita, and enjoy!

Notes

For best flavor, marinate chicken longer or prepare tzatziki a day in advance.
