Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pita bread
- Sliced tomatoes
- Cucumber slices
- Red onion, sliced
- Feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cucumber (grated and squeezed dry)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for tzatziki)
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- Salt (for tzatziki) to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced chicken and marinate for 15 minutes.
- Cook the marinated chicken in a skillet over medium heat for 6-8 minutes until thoroughly cooked and golden brown.
- Meanwhile, prepare the tzatziki by mixing Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt in another bowl.
- Warm the pita bread in a pan or oven until soft.
- Assemble the gyros: add sautéed chicken to the pita, followed by slices of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and crumbled feta cheese.
- Drizzle with tzatziki sauce, roll the pita, and enjoy!
Notes
For best flavor, marinate chicken longer or prepare tzatziki a day in advance.
