Description
Delicious and cheesy soft pretzel bites that are perfect for snacking or parties.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, cubed
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse salt, for sprinkling
Instructions
- Dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar into warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the mixture and knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Divide the risen dough, flatten each piece, and place a cube of cheddar cheese inside.
- Shape the dough around the cheese, rolling it into a ball to enclose it completely.
- Boil water with baking soda in a large pot and boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown and fragrant.
Notes
For maximum freshness, store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
