Description

Delicious and cheesy soft pretzel bites that are perfect for snacking or parties.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, cubed
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt, for sprinkling


Instructions

  1. Dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar into warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the mixture and knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  5. Divide the risen dough, flatten each piece, and place a cube of cheddar cheese inside.
  6. Shape the dough around the cheese, rolling it into a ball to enclose it completely.
  7. Boil water with baking soda in a large pot and boil each pretzel bite for 30 seconds.
  8. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Brush tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  10. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown and fragrant.
