Ingredients
- 1 pound bacon
- 1 tablespoon tallow or bacon grease
- 1 pound boneless sirloin (cut into bite-sized chunks)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)
- 1 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- 2 cups beef broth
- Kosher salt (to taste)
Instructions
- Cook the bacon until crispy, setting aside a portion for garnish if desired.
- Preheat a medium Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add tallow or bacon grease.
- Sear the sirloin until browned, then set aside.
- Add ground beef and optional spices, cooking until browned, about 15 minutes.
- Return the sirloin to the pot and add beef broth.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes.
- Add crumbled bacon to the pot, adjust salt to taste, and serve hot with toppings as desired.
