Description

A delicious and easy way to enjoy sushi flavors without rolling sushi, perfect for quick meals or family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 cup imitation crab meat, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Soy sauce, for serving
  • Pickled ginger, for serving
  • Wasabi, for serving


Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  3. While the rice cooks, prepare the vinegar mixture by combining rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over low heat until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and pour the vinegar mixture over the rice, gently folding to combine. Allow the rice to cool.
  5. Divide the sushi rice among serving bowls and top each bowl with sliced avocado, julienned cucumber, and shredded imitation crab meat.
  6. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each bowl and serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi.

Notes

Rinse the sushi rice well to prevent it from becoming gummy. Customize toppings as desired.
