Description

Delightfully soft and buttery pretzel bites that are perfect for sharing and elevate any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Coarse sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and mix until the dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and allow it to rise for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the baking soda.
  7. Cut the risen dough into small pieces and shape them into bites.
  8. Carefully boil the bites in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds, then transfer them to a baking sheet.
  9. Brush the bites with an egg wash and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Refrigerate leftovers for 3–4 days at 40°F. For longer storage, freeze the pretzel bites in an airtight container for up to 2 months. Reheat them in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes to restore their texture.
