Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef or lamb, chopped onion, and diced carrots. Cook until the meat is browned and vegetables are tender (5-7 minutes).
- Stir in the frozen peas, beef broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and layer evenly. Top with mashed potatoes, spreading them to cover the filling.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Customize the recipe with leftover mashed potatoes or a spicy kick with red pepper flakes.
