Ingredients

  • Olive Oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic – 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion – 1 large, finely chopped
  • Ground beef – 1 pound
  • Tomato sauce – 2 cups
  • Red wine – 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Dried oregano – 1 teaspoon
  • Salt and pepper – to taste
  • Pasta – 12 ounces
  • Fresh basil leaves – for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese – for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, sauté until onion is translucent.
  2. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Pour in tomato sauce and red wine. Stir in dried oregano, and season with salt and pepper. Let simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Cook pasta in a pot of boiling salted water until al dente. Drain, reserving a cup of pasta water.
  5. Toss cooked pasta with the meat sauce in the skillet, adding reserved pasta water if needed. Serve hot, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Let the sauce simmer longer for a richer flavor.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for a superior taste.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
