Description

A delightful and easy brunch dish featuring golden bread soaked in creamy goodness and layered with juicy strawberries.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (whole or skim)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 8 ounces fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • Butter for greasing
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the bread into thick slices and arrange them in the baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread slices, ensuring each slice is well soaked.
  5. Sprinkle the sliced strawberries over the top.
  6. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving, and dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

You can prep this the night before and bake it fresh in the morning. Substitute any fruit for strawberries and use different types of milk as per preference.
